How to Make a Matcha Green Tea latte and other delicious beverages with Matcha Green Tea powder.

Drinks with Matcha Green Tea are becoming very popular among tea drinkers. Many coffee and tea shops are coming up with Matcha drinks, like Dunkin’s Matcha Latte, Starbucks Matcha Green Tea or even companies like Cha Cha Matcha have popular products.

In this feature, we’ll show you how to make some of these drinks at home very conveniently using the Matcha Green Tea Powder. You can use Premium Grade Matcha or Ceremonial Grade Matcha – both have a very smooth taste and work great in these beverages. Matcha is really a superfood and very good for detoxification. Some other detox products are great too.

In these drinks, where needed - you can use the milk of your choice including dairy-free varieties like coconut milk. We’ll mention some options along the way.

Matcha Green Tea Latte by tea with herbs


Matcha Green Tea latte:

 What you need is:

 How to prepare:

  1. Put the Matcha Green Tea and sweetener into a mug, pour in 1 tbsp boiling water and whisk to a thick paste.
  1. Heat the milk until steaming, then froth until foamy with a Milk Frother or a whisk. Pour into the Matcha paste for your very own, café style latte.


Matcha Bubble Tea with Honeydew (or other alternatives)

What you need is:

  • 2 diced ripe honeydew melon (use other fruits if you need to)
  • 3 Tbsp honey
  • 1 ½ tsp Matcha green tea powder
  • 1 tsp finely grated lime zest
  • 1 cup 2% milk
  • ½ cup cooked large tapioca pearls 

How to prepare:

  1. Puree melon, honey, Matcha tea and lime zest in a blender until smooth.
  2. Blend in milk.
  3. Spoon tapioca pearls into 2 large glasses and pour melon mixture over. Serve.

Note: To cook most large tapioca, add tapioca to a large pot of vigorously boiling water and boil, covered for 15 minutes. Shot off heat and keep tapioca in water for 15 minutes, until pearls are clear (if they are not clear, return water to a boil and cook 5 minutes more). Drain, rinse and store tapioca in a simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water melted together) and keep chilled until ready to use.


Matcha Mint Iced Tea

What you need is:

  • 2 cups filtered water
  • 2 teaspoons Premium Japanese Matcha
  • 2 cups crushed ice
  • 1 lime, sliced
  • Handfuls of mint
  • Optional: honey or cane sugar

How to prepare:

  1. Using a cocktail shaker (or a large jar with a non-leaky lid) shake together the water and matcha until there are no lumps.
  2. Add the ice, a squeeze of lime, handfuls of mint and shake it some more. (Add sweetener if you like).
  3. Pour into glasses with extra lime slices and mint.

Homemade Matcha Lemonade Recipe

 What you need:

  • 3 cups + 6 cups water
  • 1 Tbsp Premium Japanese Matcha
  • ½-1 cup sweetener of choice, to taste
  • 1 cup freshly-squeezed lemon juice, strained

How to prepare:

  1. In a saucepan, bring 3 cups of water to a boil.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in Premium Japanese Matcha powder and sweetener of choice.
  3. Once dissolved, add lemon juice and 6 cups of cold water.
  4. Allow to chill in the fridge for 2 hours or longer.
  5. Serve over ice and enjoy!
